Project Background
High school students usually picture engineers as professionals who apply the knowledge of mathematics and physics to create innovative products. To some extent, they define the profession correctly; however, this is only the tip of the iceberg. We’d like to inform high school students of the paths one can take towards becoming an engineer, what the role entails, and how broad the field can be. An engineer is responsible for the safety and well-being of others. Not to mention, teamwork is a huge part of the profession. Therefore, engineers are welcome to all ideas and prospectives. They develop and apply knowledge to design complex products, machines, systems, or structures to benefit people.
Our Vision
Our vision is to clear the misconceptions that students have about engineering and STEM fields. While in high school, a common misconception among students is that engineering is only about math and physics. However, we aim to clear this misconception by connecting them with professional engineers through presentations and interactive activities. We hope to start conversations that will highlight that engineering is about problem-solving, innovation, leadership, and teamwork.
Our Goal
The aim of the project is to connect students on the edge of paving their career paths with professionals who’ve successfully walked theirs. Path Paved brings professionals from diverse industries and enables them to give students an idea of what engineering is like from the point of view of someone with first-hand experience in the field.
